Luxury-car maker Bentley says 2011 was a banner year, with global sales of 7,003 cars, up 37 percent from the year before. Bentley capped the year with a strong December, selling 1,059 cars--the second-best month for sales in its history. Sales in December were up 69 percent from the same month a year earlier.
A Volkswagen AG executive announced Tuesday that the company is planning to turbocharge the entire VW fleet by the 2016 or 2017. VW's executive vice president, Mark Trahan, spoke with The Detroit News, saying they will replace the company's remaining three naturally aspirated engines, a five-cylinder 2.5-liter and two six-cylinders with turbo mills. As a young boy in the early 1960s, I would trek solo to our local auto show in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
